Objects reflected from curved stainless look like those in the water. In other words, water should be below us in usual go up over us, then a fantastic view show up. [via]

This modern building is Wei-Wu-Ying Center for the Arts from Mecanoo for client Council for Cultural Affairs (CCA), project location in Metropolitan Park Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Kaohsiung is one of the world’s larges sea harbours with five million people living in the region. A high speed train line connects the city with Taiwan’s capital, Taipei. The large park and performing arts center merge with one another. The centuries old Banyan trees in the area formed a source of inspiration for the design. Slopes, valleys and water pools create intimate public spaces varying in size, scale and proportion. Meandering paths lead to a botanical garden, a bamboo grove, a playground, a tea pavilion and a butterfly garden. The park design is a logical continuation of the performing arts center with its public open spaces and roofscape.

The programme consists of a concert hall with 2000 seats, an opera house with 2250 seats, a theatre hall with 1250 seats and a Recital Hall with 500 seats. Banyan Plaza and sheltered public space in between halls creates a porous space wherein interior and exterior blur. In the subtropical climate, grasses and plantings on the roof provide natural and efficient cooling. The roof holds an informal public space where city inhabitants can stroll, practice Tai Chi or meditate.

The Wilkinson Tree Greenhouse type Residential designed by Architect Robert Harvey Oshatz. This Wilkinson Tree Greenhouse unusual tree is located in the forests of Portland, Oregon. This house evades the mechanics of the camera; it is difficult to capture the way the interior space flows seamlessly through to the exterior. One must actually stroll through the house to grasp its complexities and its connection to the exterior. Located on a flag lot, a steep sloping grade provided the opportunity to bring the main level of the house into the tree canopy to evoke the feeling of being in a tree house. One example is a natural wood ceiling, floating on curved laminated wood beams, passing through a generous glass wall which wraps around the main livingroom.

The building area 480 square meters (5162 square feet) and has a perfect harmony with its surroundings. Built on a steep sloping lot, with Site Area: 2200 square meters (23,680 sq. ft). The living space resides amongst the forest canopy. The clients, Roy Wilkinson a lover of music wanted a house that not only became part of the natural landscape but also shows the flow of music as an design inspiration.
